Worthless – James 1:26

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

James 1:26
If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.

I’ve mentioned this verse before and of all deception, I believe self-deception is the worst.

So, do you consider yourself religious? Sometimes I think that word is looked upon in the wrong light. Maybe it would be better to ask if you consider yourself “Spiritual”? Do you consider yourself one to be pursuing the ways of YHWH? If you do, the next question is “Do you keep a tight reign on your tongue?”

Can you control what comes out of your mouth? Or do you just say what you want? Especially to friends. Cause you know, it’s OK to talk about others to friends. Right? Or is it? Where is that in the scriptures? Well, it’s not there. Yet, for some reason so many think it’s OK to bash others within their little circle friends. All the while opposing this very verse head on.

Thus, making their religion, their faith, their efforts in pursuing the ways of YHWH, completely worthless. Rendering them empty, vain, meaningless. All because they can’t control their tongue. So, do you control your tongue? Is your religion worthless?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
