Watch Your Pride – Mark 8:29-30

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Mark 8:29-30
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.” Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.

If we stopped reading right here we could say Peter had it together. However, unfortunately, the story doesn’t end there. In fact, as we continue reading, we find Peter goes from the straight A student to the dunce of the class just moments later. How did this happen? It came about just after Yeshua told the disciples that He was going to suffer greatly by the leadership in Jerusalem and that He would even be killed by them. That’s when we read verse 32.

32 He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. 33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. “Get behind me, Satan!” he said. “You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”

What’s the lesson to be learned here? Just because you get something right, doesn’t mean your infallible. Watch your pride.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
