Wait – Proverbs 20:22

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 20:22
Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!” Wait for YHWH, and he will deliver you.

We’ve discussed verses similar to this before. However, this verse takes us down a slightly different understanding. The verses we looked at before looks more into the need of forgiving others. This verse looks more at the element of YHWH delivering you from your situation.

But it’s not just about being delivered. We have to first let the vengeance go. You may never say the words “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!” However, your actions can scream it. At the same time, your actions can whisper it too. If you feel someone has done you wrong, you can ever so quietly launch your attack in subtle ways. You can attack someone by planting thoughts in others about them.

However, if you truly let it go, YHWH will indeed deliver you. A prime example of this is Joseph. If you’re not truly willing to first let vengeance go, you may be waiting a long time for YHWH to deliver you. Don’t hold on to grudges. Don’t carry out revenge in your own subtle ways. Wait for YHWH, and he will deliver you.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
