Turning Hearts – 1 Kings 18:36-37

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Kings 18:36-37
At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “O YHWH, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command. Answer me, O YHWH, answer me, so these people will know that you, O YHWH, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”

This is the story where we see Elijah taking on the 450 Baal prophets. Truly an awesome event given to us in the scriptures. Yet, I believe Elijah’s intent is all too often over looked. We see in verse 36 that he was acting in obedience. But it’s verse 37 that I believe needs more attention. It’s where he says YHWH is turning their hearts back again.

He wanted everyone to know that it was YHWH who was God and it was HIM who was turning their hearts back.

What’s your focus in life? Is it to be right or is it that YHWH is turning the hearts of the people back to Him?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
