This is a Test – Genesis 18:24-25

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Genesis 18:24
What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? 25 Far be it from you to do such a thing – to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?

This is where Abraham pleads for the people in Sodom. At first he gets YHWH to not destroy the city for the sake of 50 righteous people. The number drops to only 10 righteous people by the end of the conversation. If there was only 10 righteous people in the whole city, YHWH would not have destroyed it.

Please notice that Abraham didn’t ask for the removal of the righteous and then bring the judgement. He was interceding for the wicked. I personally see this as as a test for Abraham. To see where his heart was. Do you intercede for people in hopes they repent? Or do you ask for their judgement?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
