The Trap – 1 Timothy 6:8,9

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Tim. 6:8,9
“But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.” 9 People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.

Just after we see verse 8 talking about being content with having food and clothing we see verse 9 say something very interesting. It says that people who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t consider someone wealthy because they have
something beyond food and clothing. However, I don’t think the question is “Do we see it this
way?” I’m wondering if the question is to be “Should we see it this way?”

If Paul, or any of the authors of the scriptures, were to see all that we as individuals have today, what would they think? Have you ever wondered that before? This is not to say that we can’t, or shouldn’t have something other than food and clothing. Even the Patriarchs had much more than that. But I can’t help but wonder that they would have been content with only food and clothing
just the same.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
