Serving – Luke 1:5

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Luke 1:5
In the time of Herod king of Judea there was a priest named Zechariah, who belonged to the priestly division of Abijah; his wife Elizabeth was also a descendant of Aaron.

This is a verse we just fly right over and really don’t think much about. But let’s think about this for a moment. We all know that these are the parents of John the baptist. We see John’s dad was a priest. In fact, it was while he was performing one of his priestly duties that the angel appeared to him about him and his wife going to be having John. So what does this mean? It means John was to become a priest.

However, we see the narrative in the scriptures showing something quite different. We see John no where near the temple in the days of Yeshua but we see a leadership in place that consists of the Pharisees and Sadducees. It is believed by many that the rightful leadership was expelled by the Romans and replaced. Yet, John didn’t let that keep him from serving. What about you? Can you serve when things don’t go as they should?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
