Sacrifice – 2 Samuel 24:24

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

2 Samuel 24:24
But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to YHWH my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”

Now, to get the full picture of what is going on here, let’s read the verses just before.

2 Samuel 24:22-23
Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take whatever pleases him and offer it up. Here are oxen for the burnt offering, and here are threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood. O king, Araunah gives all this to the king.” Araunah also said to him, “May YHWH your God accept you.”

Sacrifice means to give of yourself. David knew what this meant. Giving something to YHWH that doesn’t cost you is NOT a sacrifice. Giving out of convenience is easy. What sacrifice is there if we are only giving out of our abundance?

How do you sacrifice to YHWH? Is it to see how little you can give? Or is it to see how much you can give to Him? What does the word “sacrifice” mean to you?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
