Revelation 12:11 – Holding on (August 7)
Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Sunday. August 7th. The first day of the Hebraic week.
Our verse today is Revelation 12:11.
They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
“They did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.” What an absolute incredible verse. Have you ever pondered this before? Do you love your life so much that you would shrink back from dying for your faith? Do you love your life that much?
Is there really anything in this life worth giving up eternity for? The obvious answer is “no”. Yet, if it came down to it, could you choose the obvious answer? Just how loose should we hold on to this life and the things we have in it?
Death is a certainty. We can’t prevent it from happening. Oh sure, we might be able to delay it, but no one can avoid it. Whether we see the days of Revelation or not is truly irrelevant. We need to ask ourselves on a regular basis if we are holding on to this life or are we holding on to Him.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
