Rebellion – 1 Samuel 15:23

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Samuel 15:23
For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of YHWH, he has rejected you as king.

King Saul was commanded to attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything they owned. Though he defeated the Amalekites, he didn’t destroy everything. He didn’t carry out the instructions given. He did what he wanted and how he wanted. It’s then that we see the words of our verse resinate loud and clear.

Rebellion is like the sin of divination. That means in the eyes of YHWH, not obeying is likened unto the dark divinations of a witch. Think about that for a minute.

Arrogance is like the evil of idolatry. That means in the eyes of YHWH, pride and egotism is equal to the bowing down of idols. Why would YHWH mention this at this time? Because verse 12 says that Saul set up a monument in His own honor.

Remember, YHWH doesn’t look at sin the way we do. He see’s it for what it really is.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
