Psalms 123:1 – I Lift Up My Eyes (May 28)
Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Saturday. May 28th. The 7th day of the Hebraic week. And everybody says “HalleluYah”.
Our verse today is Psalm 123:1.
I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven.
Who do you look to? Silly question right? But is it really? Do you look to YHWH for everything? I mean everything. It’s so easy to look to something or someone else for our needs in life. We’ve all been there.
Now your probably saying “Steve. What are you talking about? I don’t look to anyone but YHWH.” While I truly hope that is the case for you, I can only speak for me I guess in this. For example, if I get a headache, the first thing that comes to my mind is “Oh man, I need some ibuprofen.” So is ibuprofen wrong? Well, I guess that depends on who you talk to. But the greater point that I want to bring out here is who we first turn to when we need help.
What if everything was taken away from us all at once? Would your faith be strong enough to make it through? Would you look to Him or would you grope your way through in despair?
I lift up my eyes to you, to you whose throne is in heaven.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
