“Preach It” – Acts 7:1

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Acts 7:1
Then the high priest asked him, “Are these charges true?”

Interesting isn’t it? They asked him a question they knew the answer to. They knew the charges weren’t true. They knew the accusations were from false witnesses. How did Stephen respond? He ignored the question and started preaching. But it wasn’t just any message. In fact, Stephen’s sermon is the longest recorded message in all of the New Testament.

Stephen did what many would call “Preaching to the choir.” At least that’s the way they took it I’m sure. Yet, as his message progressed, he started showing them a side that they didn’t quite see the same way.

But here’s the thing that we need to take note of, Stephen knew the scriptures. Not a little here or there. He knew them very well. It’s in this he was able to stand up against them, and they knew it. However, let’s not forget he did so in kindness. He wasn’t just blabbing off knowledge to show what he knew. So the question for us is “Why do we preach to others? To show ourself right or in hopes our hearers will pray over what we present?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
