More Like Him – Romans 12:14

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Romans 12:14
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Well, if there’s ever a verse that just makes ya cringe, this one has to be in the running for it. We all know persecution was pretty harsh in the days when the Bible was being written. Yet, we also know that kind of persecution is in many parts of the world even today.

While persecution can come in various forms and degrees, this verse gives us something to practice regardless of those variables. You see, it’s one thing to forgive those who hurt you, but it’s really taking it to the next level when you turn right around and bless in spite of what they have done to you. And that’s exactly what Yeshua did when He was on the cross. He actually prayed to the Father for their forgiveness. I would definitely call that blessing those who persecute you.

Can you look past your temporary pain to consider your persecutors eternal destiny? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it’s easy. But it does make us more like Him.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
