Matthew 20:25-28 – Servant Attitude (July 18)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Monday. July 18th. The 2nd day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today are Matthew 20:25-28.

Matthew 20:25
Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave – 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

The leaders of the Gentiles want to rule and exercise authority. It seems in this world that everybody wants to rule the world or at the very least as much as they can. Yet, that is truly not to be our desire. Our desires are to be focused on serving. That’s right. Serving.

So what’s your attitude in life? Do you have a servants attitude? Is it your goal to serve or to be served? Yeshua said whoever wants to become great must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave.

Those words just go against everything we’ve been taught don’t they? But if that’s what we’ve been taught, then who’s been our teacher?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
