Matthew 4:4 – Bread Alone (May 10)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Tuesday. May 10th. The 3rd day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is Matthew 4:4.

Matthew 4:4
Yeshua answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”

Here Yeshua is quoting Deuteronomy 8:3 in response to Satan’s tempting. And how many times have we quoted this same phrase? We’ve all heard it so many times in our life. But, do we really believe it? If we believe it, that means that we would act upon it. Right? So, are you acting upon it? Or do you try to survive on bread alone?

How often do you partake of the Word of YHWH? Think about this for a second. How often do you break out the Word of YHWH and read it for yourself? If we truly believe that we don’t live on bread alone, shouldn’t we be digging into the Word on a regular basis?

Here’s a thought to ponder, if you only ate in the physical the amount that you “ate” in the spiritual, how would you be doing? Think about that for second. Let it sink in.

If we truly believe that we do not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of YHWH, then we need to make it a point that we partake of His Word everyday.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
