His way or the Highway – Deuteronomy 12:4

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Deuteronomy 12:4
You must not worship YHWH your God in their way.

Does your worship of YHWH consist of any traditions or practices that are taken from pagan practices? Of course, the immediate knee-jerk reaction is “Of course not!” However, have you truly done an examination of the “way” you worship YHWH? Have you seriously done any research on the practices or days you celebrate and consider them basic or elementary to the faith you walk?

If they have pagan origins in them, would this verse not apply? How can we take something from a pagan religion and use it to worship YHWH after reading this verse? Job makes it pretty clear in discussing this topic as well.

Job 14:4
Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? There is not one.

YHWH is a jealous God. He wants nothing to do with the practices or traditions of pagan gods. Likewise, He wants us to have nothing to do with them either. Examine how you worship Him today and don’t hold back in removing something that doesn’t belong.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
