Food & Clothing – 1 Timothy 6:6-8

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Timothy 6:6-8
But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

We’ve talked about being content before but notice this verse seems to take it to the next level. It says that godliness with contentment is great gain. Great gain. Focus on those words for a second. Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Notice verse 8 again. “But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.” Whoa. Wait. What? “But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.” Would you be content with that? Think about it before you answer too quickly.

Food and clothing. That’s it. Would you be content with just that? If not, why not? Let’s not forget that being “rich” is a relative term. Think of everything you have. Now compare yourself to the average person living 2,000 years ago. Odds are, you are richer than most of the wealthy
people back then.

Can you control the temperature in your house, the temperature of your water, or the temperature in your vehicle? Being rich is all relative.

8 But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
