Fear God – Exodus 20:20

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Exodus 20:20
Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”

Do you fear God? I suppose that question can be best answered in the question if we sin or not. We’ve all heard the phrase, “I’m not perfect, I’m just forgiven.” Or what about the one “Nobody’s perfect”. And my favorite “I’m only human.” It’s almost as if these are given as a license, or at the very least a “legitimate” excuse for sinning.

Yet, that takes us back to the original question. Do you fear God? Or do you cling to excuses for not fearing Him? Every day we are given choices to make. Those choices will be made on one of two foundations. The foundation of fearing God or the foundation of not fearing Him. No one likes to think they don’t fear YHWH. Yet, what we think can be completely irrelevant to the facts.

So the question remains. Do you fear God?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
