Ephesians 5:8-11 – Sharing – Part 2 (June 17)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Friday. June 17th. The 6th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today are Ephesians 5:8-11.

Ephesians 5:8
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

Yesterday we discussed the sharing of certain material on FaceBook. We brought up how we as believers should have nothing to do with the deeds of the world. It’s actually verse 11 here that I hear as a counterpoint to yesterdays devotional. Again, verse 11 says…

11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.

It’s the phrase “but rather expose them” that people use for sharing the sin of the world on FaceBook. But there is no “exposing” something that is out in the open. Does that make sense? What else would be in a sinful world but sinful ways? There is no exposing what is already done in the open. You will only be assisting in sharing it.

Paul is talking to believers in regarding sin that is in the Body. Thus, “exposing” it. Even in that we must use wisdom and care.

We’ll continue these thoughts tomorrow. Until then, let’s use wisdom in what we “share.”

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
