Contentment – Ecclesiastes 4:6

Ecclesiastes 4:6
Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.

Contentment. It’s a powerful force. Yet, so is greed and covetousness. We live in a world that constantly tells us that we won’t be happy or content unless we have this or that. It definitely never ceases in giving us the entertainment it wants us to be occupied with.

So how do we keep ourselves from all of this influence? How do we keep ourselves on the straight and narrow road in the midst of so many possible road blocks, detours and exits that get us drifting off course? In reality, sin and distractions will always be around on this side of eternity. Though we may be able to reduce the amount of confrontations with them, we will always have the need to overcome them. The best way to overcome those distractions in life is to constantly be preparing our attitude in maintaining the right frame of mind.

While the world is tellings us all that it wants us to fill our lives with, the Word says “Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.”

Who are you listening to? The world or the Word?
