Compassion and Mercy – James 5:10-11

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

James 5:10-11
Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

“We consider blessed those who have persevered.” Let that sink in a little. Suffering is never any fun. Neither is it easy to think you are being blessed if you are in the midst of it. But, that’s what James is saying.

Whatever you’re going through, try not to focus on the negative of the here and now. Focus on what you need to learn in the midst of the negative. It’s the finished product He is making us into that we should be aiming for.

Verse 11 says “The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.” This might be hard to see in the midst of hard times. However, it’s out of His compassion and mercy he is using those times to make us.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
