If so, then we are sure you have many questions. Our family also had many questions when we first came to the understanding that the Torah is still for today. During recent years we have put together what we have learned into video teachings and have made them available in hopes of helping others on their journey.

Before digging into these teachings, here are a few points that may assist you in beginning to understand that the Torah truly is still for today.

  1. God’s Word stands forever. All of it. (Isa. 40:8; 1 Peter 1:24,25)
  2. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness,…” All of it. Not the NT only. (2 Tim. 3:16)
  3. We know that the law is spiritual (Rom 7:14)
  4. We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. (1 Tim 1:8)
  5. Though rarely taught in most churches, Paul lived according to the Law (Acts 21:24; 24:14)
  6. Paul told the New Testament believers to follow his example. (1 Cor. 11:1 & Phil. 4:9)
  7. Many assume that when Paul refers to the word “law” in his writings, that he is discussing the Law(Torah) of God as given through Moses. But context is important, as Paul refers to at least a total of seven different laws. Thus, Paul is not referring to the Law of God every time. The laws that Paul refers to are…
    1. The Law of God(Torah) (Romans 3:31; 7:22-25; 8:7)
    2. The Law of Sin (Romans 7:23-25)
    3. The Law of Sin and Death (Romans 8:2)
    4. The Law of the Spirit of Life (Romans 8:2)
    5. The Law of Faith (Romans 3:27)
    6. The Law of Righteousness (Romans 9:31)
    7. The Law of Christ (1 Corinthians 9:21)
  8. The law was not meant only for the “Jews.” It is for all who choose to follow God (YHWH). (Num. 15:15,16)

Since the thread of Torah runs through many of our teachings, we cover it through various topics. We recommend our teaching series Torah 101 and teachings Grafted In and The Eternal Covenant as a starting point. These two teachings provide the foundational understanding of scripture from the perspective in which it was written. For a shorter teaching that gives some explanation to the basics, please see our teaching No Picking and Choosing.

You can see all of our teachings on why Torah is for today at our Faith Foundations page
