Upheld – Romans 3:31

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Romans 3:31
Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

This is a verse that’s just hard to ignore. How else do we uphold the Law besides pursuing obedience to it? The greek word for “uphold” here actually implies “To stand up, to place, to put, to establish.” So the law is not to be nullified in our life. It is to be pursued. To do all we can to confirm and endorse the Law in our lives.

It is the Law of sin and death that we are to rid from our lives. I know that there are many who try to say that the Law of Moses is to be considered the Law of sin and death. However, if that was the case, what do we do with this verse that says we are to uphold it? Surely we are not to uphold sin. Of course we aren’t. In fact, according to 1 John, sin is breaking the law.

1 John 3:4
Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
