James 1:13,14 – “Worst enemy” (July 29)
Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Friday. July 29th. The 6th day of the Hebraic week.
Our verses today are James 1:13, 14.
When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed.
Nope. The devil didn’t make you do it. If ever we fall, it’s because of our own evil desire. That’s right. That’s what it said. By our own “evil desire”. Now, no one wants to think that they have “evil” inside of them. But there is no getting around it.
This is why Paul said “I die daily”. This is why Yeshua said “take up your cross daily”. There is no doubt that we are at war with the enemy. And there is no doubt that he goes around like a roaring lion. But make no mistake about it. Your worst enemy is you. This is why Paul said in 1 Cor. 9:27…
So when you get out of bed in the morning, you know who your worst enemy is. Don’t give in.
Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
