The Choice – Joshua 5:13

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Joshua 5:13
Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”

Joshua saw YHWH do much through the hand of Moses and he’s ready to see YHWH use him. Joshua sees this man with a drawn sword. Joshua’s question “Are you for us or for our enemies?” shows his heart is ready for battle. Yet, it’s the mans response that let’s Joshua know who he is talking to.

In verse 14 the man said He wasn’t on either side but He was commander of the army of YHWH. He wasn’t on either side. Get the picture? It’s US who have to choose. I find it interesting that this is the very message Joshua gives to the people of Israel at the end of his life. His famous words from Joshua 24:15.

Joshua 24:15
…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve,… But as for me and my household, we will serve YHWH.

So the choice is always ours.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
