July 8 – 1 Peter 1:14-15 – Set apart

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Friday. July 8th. The 6th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today are 1 Peter 1:14-15
As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

What a powerful verse. It tells us not to conform to the evil desires we had when living in ignorance. So, do you conform to evil desires? Do you
struggle with evil desires? The pride in all of us wants to say “Well, of course not.” Yet, deep inside, when we are honest with ourselves, we know otherwise.

Now, that doesn’t make us an evil person. Of course not. It just shows we’re human and that we are in the midst of a fight. The question is, however, how well are we fighting? Or are we fighting at all? When we are confronted with those evil desires, what do we do with them? Do we conform to them? Or do we overcome them?

When we overcome them, we answering the call of being holy. Everything we do is to be holy. Set apart. I encourage you to examine your life today. Make yourself holy in ALL you do. Be set apart from the world.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
