More Willing to Die than Obey – Jonah 1:11-12

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Jonah 1:11-12
The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So they asked him, “What should we do to you to make the sea calm down for us?” “Pick me up and throw me into the sea,” he replied, “and it will become calm. I know that it is my fault that this great storm has come upon you.”

Amazing isn’t it? Jonah was more willing to die than to answer the call YHWH had put on his life. Talk about rebellion. Yet, in all of Jonah’s stubbornness, YHWH still wanted to use him. So YHWH provided the big fish to preserve his life.

YHWH provided. In the midst of Jonah’s rebellion, YHWH still provided. Did He have to? Of course not. There is no guarantee for grace for one who is in persistent rebellion. Exactly why YHWH granted Jonah all of this grace and favor is beyond me. But now Jonah was in the belly of a large fish. Not exactly the holiday vacation he had planned.

Are you in the midst of running from the Father? Be careful. You may end up in the belly of a big fish. Or worse… He may let you take that vacation.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
