March 20

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Sunday. March 20th. The 1st day of the Hebraic week.

Our verse today is Genesis 42:36.

Genesis 42:36
Their father Jacob said to them, “You have deprived me of my children. Joseph is no more and Simeon is no more, and now you want to take Benjamin. Everything is against me!”

Yesterday, we talked about waiting on YHWH. In how He see’s what we don’t. The same is applied here with Jacob.

Ever been in those times where it just seems that everything is going against you? Of course you have. We all have. And here we find Jacob saying these exact same words “Everything is against me!”

But was everything against him? Hardly. In fact, everything was going his way. He just didn’t know it yet. It reminds me of a story I once heard about a guy shipwrecked on an island. After being on the island for a couple days he had made a small hut for him and what little supplies he had. Struggling to find food, he began finding wood for a fire on the other side of the island.

When searching he saw smoke rising not far from him. He ran to see what it was. When he got there, he found it was hut burned to the ground with all of his supplies.

He fell to his knees in utter despair. After hours of just staring at the burned hut and supplies he hears a loud horn of a ship. He ran to the beach and sees a ship. After being rescued, he asked them “How did you know I was here?” They replied “We saw the smoke from your fire.”

Sometimes it may seem everything is against you. Just remember, you don’t see what YHWH sees.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
