March 15

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Tuesday. March 15th. The 3rd day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today is Nehemiah 4:17,18

17… Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, 18 and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.

This is the time when Judah was back from captivity in Babylon. They were rebuilding the wall but were being threatened by the surrounding people. Did they give up when they heard about the threats? Of course not. They responded accordingly. In fact, let’s read the previous couple of verses.

Nehemiah 4:15
When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to his own work. 16 From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah 17 who were building the wall.

And then we see as our text says that many carried their swords in one hand while working with the other. Many others kept their swords right at their side while working. Though they were working on the rebuilding of the wall, they were aware off the threat and made themselves ready for a moments notice.

May that be our attitude in this life. To go through our everyday life but be ready at a moments notice for a battle if called upon.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!

Comfort Zone

As the saying goes, ships are safe in the harbor, but that’s not what ships are made for. Likewise, it’s nice to have a comfort zone but we can’t dwell in them 24/7. If we hope to grow any at all, we have to step out of our comfort zone and learn to grow in our...
