Listening – 1 Samuel 3:10

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Samuel 3:10
YHWH came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

This was the fourth time YHWH spoke to Samuel. The first three times Samuel went in to Eli thinking it was him who was calling. Samuel was a young boy and just started learning under Eli. Verse one tells us hearing a word from YHWH was very rare in those days and there weren’t many visions.

Now the obvious question is, are we listening to YHWH today? Please remember there is a big difference between hearing and listening. Hearing just happens. We hear things all the time whether we want to or not. Yet. listening takes effort. Listening is the action of applying oneself to hearing better.

YHWH does not change. He can speak to His people today just as He did in Samuel’s time. Do you listen for YHWH’s voice? Would you recognize His voice if He did speak to you? Make it a point to be one who is willing to listen. To make an effort in hearing His voice no matter the cost.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
