Get Rid of it! – Deuteronomy 7:26

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Deuteronomy 7:26
Do not bring a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. Utterly abhor and detest it, for it is set apart for destruction.

The verse just before this one talked about the images of foreign gods that were to be burned and how the people were not even to desire the gold or silver that was adorned on those idols. Those idols were set apart for destruction. If we bring foreign idols into our homes then we are setting ourselves apart for the same destruction set on them.

Now, many today are quick to say how they would never bring an idol of a foreign god into their home. However, how many things do we bring into our homes and never truly consider the purpose of that item. How often do we celebrate something in a traditional way, yet never do an honest examination of that tradition.

The next time you bring something into your home, remember, YHWH doesn’t change. Weigh carefully what you allow into your home. Don’t bring destruction on yourself.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
