Dead to Sin – Romans 6:11

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Romans 6:11
In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Back in the day when I was a youth pastor, I had a great friend who helped in the ministry as one of our youth leaders. We’d actually call each other’s answering machines every once in while and left a simple message. The message consisted of only 3 words. Those three words were, “Bang. Your dead.”

It was our way of reminding each other to count ourselves dead as this verse says. When temptation comes your way, it should be as if you have no emotion to it. Your dead. Thus, rendering the temptation as no temptation at all.

Consider even the following two verses.

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13 Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

So, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Yeshua.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
