Context – Isaiah 25:1

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Isaiah 25:1
O YHWH, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.

I saw this verse on a FaceBook meme not too long ago. What a beautiful proclamation right? Isaiah is praising YHWH because of all the marvelous things He has done. Things that were planned long ago. However, have you ever wondered what these things were that Isaiah was giving him praise for here? These things that were planned long ago? Listen to the next verse to find out.

2 You have made the city a heap of rubble, the fortified town a ruin, the foreigners’ stronghold a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.

Well, now, that changes things up a little huh? If you read the previous chapter, you will find these verses are in the context of a massive earth quake that is prophesied to still happen.

While there is definitely nothing wrong with showing this verse by itself, I do believe the point has been made for the importance of knowing the surrounding verses when reading scripture.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
