Repercussions – Genesis 38:1-2

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Genesis 38:1
At that time, Judah left his brothers and went down to stay with a man of Adullam named Hirah. 2 There Judah met the daughter of a Canaanite man named Shua. He married her and lay with her;

The first few words are “At that time.” At what time? The time Joseph was in Egypt. I find it extremely interesting that this one chapter, that is all about Judah, is placed right in the middle of Josephs’ storyline. But why do we read this one chapter about the trouble of Judah and then suddenly go right back to Joseph in the next chapter?

I believe because it was Judah who spoke up to the brothers to sell Joseph as a slave. Something he knew was against the ways of YHWH. So at this time Judah left his family and stayed with foreigners. Instead of confessing his sin, he tried running from it. For further study on Judah’s sin, please see Deuteronomy 24:7.

Are you running from a sin? If so, you may only be making matters worse for yourself.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
