Only the Best – Deuteronomy 17:1

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Deuteronomy 17:1
Do not sacrifice to YHWH your God an ox or a sheep that has any defect or flaw in it, for that would be detestable to him.

We obviously can’t make animal sacrifices today without the temple and priesthood chosen by YHWH. However, there is a principle here that applies to more than just that. It’s a principle that applies to everything we offer to YHWH. Giving Him our best.

Do you give YHWH your best? Or do you give Him your unwanted? Your leftovers? Can it really be considered a “sacrifice” if it’s something you don’t care about? Is that your attitude when you make an offering to Him? Do you just give out of convenience? Does your “sacrifice” benefit you more than it costs you?

Is that your attitude in your relationship with YHWH? To receive more than you give? To view all the angles to see where you come out on top? Maybe that’s not your attitude. However, if we only offer YHWH our leftovers and keep the best for us, how should He view it?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
