Circumcision – Deuteronomy 10:16

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Deuteronomy 10:16
Circumcise your hearts, therefore, and do not be stiff-necked any longer.

I remember as a child hearing how people were to be circumcised in the Old Testament but we are to only be circumcised in the heart from the New testament forward. Well, as you can see from our verse here, YHWH has desired us to always have a circumcised heart. It’s not about a bunch of “do’s and Don’ts”.

It’s all about a relationship with YHWH as our Heavenly Father. And yes, while there are “do’s and don’ts” involved, they are there for our protection. Just as any good parent will set parameters for their children, our Heavenly Father has done the same for our protection.

It’s in this that we can understand the term “stiff-necked” in our verse. One who is stiff-necked is not willing to submit to the authority of YHWH. Not willing to submit to His “do’s and Don’ts.” Yet, one who has submitted to them all has truly circumcised their heart. Circumcise your heart today. Everyday if needed.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
