Psalm 37:18-20 – Two groups (August 31)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Wednesday. August 31st. The fourth day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today are Psalm 37:18-20.

Psalm 37:18
The days of the blameless are known to YHWH, and their inheritance will endure forever. 19 In times of disaster they will not wither; in days of famine they will enjoy plenty. 20 But the wicked will perish: YHWH’s enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish – vanish like smoke.

The first few words of these verses speak volumes. “The days of the blameless are known to YHWH”. These words should bring comfort to every believer. Well, let me rephrase that. These words should bring comfort to the blameless. Now, your probably thinking “Blameless! Who’s blameless?” But “blameless” does’t mean “without fault”. It means perfect in motive. That being in pursuing YHWH.

Now, everyone who pursues YHWH claims their motives are pure. Of course. Yet, at the same time, everybody, and I mean everybody, knows what YHWH is speaking to their heart on something. You know where your motives are. We all do. Remember, these verses put everyone into one of two groups. Blameless or wicked.

If YHWH pricks you heart and you ignore it, what group would you be in?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
