Enemies – James 4:4

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

James 4:4
You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

James is calling it as it is. Sin is sin. Now, the question is “Who is James talking to here?” Consider James 1:1.

James 1:1
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings.

He’s talking to Believers. So a believer can be an enemy of YHWH. That’s right. You may claim to be a believer, and that’s great. Yet, it seems that the more significant question is “Are you a friend of the world?” How close to the world are you walking? Are there things from the world in your life that opposes the Word of YHWH?

This is something we can’t just breeze over. Our verse is talking directly to believers. So, it’s talking to you and me? One more time.

“You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.”
