Hold on Loosely – 2 Peter 3:8

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

2 Peter 3:8
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

Now we know that the surrounding text here is talking about the end times and so much that surrounds that time frame. However, have you ever wondered where Peter is getting this idea regarding time? He actually is getting it from Psalm 90:4. It says.

Psalm 90:4
For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night.

Virtually the whole chapter of Psalm 90 is talking about time and how it’s here and then gone. This life we live in the physical is truly just a drop in the ocean in the scope of eternity. Things we hold to with a firm grip are just as fleeting, if not more, than us. What are you investing into? What are you holding on to? The things of this world are indeed temporary. May we never forget this. In fact, let it be the reminder that we need to hold on to this life ever so loosely.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
