The Front of the Book – Romans 15:4

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Romans 15:4
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

A lot of people pretty much focus all their reading and study time only in the New Testament. While there is much that can indeed be learned form the New Testament, we see here that Paul makes a huge statement about that which was written in the past for them. Meaning the Old Testament.

It’s hard for us to imagine but there was no “New Testament” when the New Testament was being written. All they had was what many of us call “The Old Testament.” It was these writings that Paul says was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Now think about it. It was these scriptures that gave the New Testament believers hope. That gave them encouragement. That taught them. If we are truly wanting to be “New Testament” believers, shouldn’t we be letting these scriptures be the same for us?

How can we truly understand the back of the Book without understanding the front of the Book?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
