His Traits – Proverbs 24:17-18

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 24:17-18
Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice, or YHWH will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from him.

What does this verse show us? It shows us that YHWH is more concerned about your character than He is about punishing your enemies. That’s right. If you start gloating over your enemy when YHWH begins to punish them, YHWH will stop his wrath because of your attitude.

Remember, we’re supposed to love our enemies. How are we showing love or concern for someone when we are rejoicing over their downfall? Answer? We’re not. That’s not showing love or concern at all. So YHWH stops His judgement and will most likely begin working on our attitude again.

He wants us to be like Him. So what are the Characteristics that our Heavenly Father has?

Exodus 34:6-7
And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “YHWH, YHWH, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness, maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin…”

That was Exodus 34:6 and 7. Highlight it. Say it out loud. Pray about it. These are the traits YHWH wants in our life.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
