Gossip – Proverbs 18:8

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 18:8
The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man’s inmost parts.

Gossip is far more powerful than many imagine. Can what is being said be true? Absolutely. However, the presentation is being made behind another’s back. Most often those things that are said through gossip are things that would never be said in front of the person that is being talked about. If it would be said with the person there, it’s almost a guarantee it would be done so in a much different tone and style.

Entertaining a gossip is dangerous territory. You are allowing yourself to focus on something that has the potential of taking your thoughts down the wrong path. Once on that path, you will only find it easier to go down it again and again.

Don’t give your ears to a gossip. Let your ears be focused on what the Spirit is saying everyday. Just as important, don’t let yourself be the one who gossips. Remember the words of Yeshua.

Matthew 12:36
But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
