Turn from Evil – Proverbs 13:19

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 13:19
A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.

Though the book of proverbs is filled with generalities, meaning that which is said is not to be taken as fact for every like situation, those generalities still hold a lot of truth in them. This verse is no different. This is especially so when we keep it in perspective of YHWH to His children.

19 A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.

What can we take away from this verse? A servant of YHWH will never have their longing fulfilled until they turn from evil. Remember, it’s a generality. However, it could be a prerequisite to receiving what you are longing for.

Do you detest turning from evil? If YHWH pricks your heart on a particular topic, do you listen to His voice or shrug it off? What should be the ultimate goal of every believer? Is it not hearing the words “Well done.” from the Father? Yet, if we detest turning from evil ways that we may be holding on to, What words will we hear Him say to us?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
