Correction – Proverbs 20:30

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 20:30
Blows and wounds cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the inmost being.

Before we dig into this, please know this verse has nothing to do with abuse. I’m talking child abuse, spouse abuse, parent abuse… you name it. It has NOTHING to do with these. In all my years of ministry, I have spoken with many who have suffered under these kinds of abuse and my heart breaks for them every time.

This verse is talking about something completely different. The question many may have here is “What exactly is Solomon talking about then?” He’s talking about YHWH reprimanding His own people to bring them back. To do whatever it takes to purge the world from them.

For an example, you can read Amos 4:6-12. Those verses explain YHWH bringing hard times in order to get His people to repent. YHWH loves His people. However, sometimes that love has to be stern.

Job 5:17
Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.

YHWH loves us and does everything He can to turn us around to walk humbly before Him. Walk humbly with YHWH today, and every day.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
