Little or a Lot – Proverbs 15:16

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 15:16
Better a little with the fear of YHWH than great wealth with turmoil.

It’s threaded throughout the book of Proverbs. Fearing YHWH is hating sin. And here we are told that it is better to have little while hating sin than to have great wealth with turmoil. Wow. What a statement.

In a world that promotes the more you have the happier you will be, the scriptures give us the exact opposite message. We are bombarded with ads from everywhere tellings us what we should buy next to make us happy and content. Yet, we all know once that purchase is done, it’s not much longer till we want that next thing to make us happy and content all over again.

Our verse today reminds me of the words given by Paul to Timothy.

1 Timothy 6:6
But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Be cautious in striving after wealth. It’s not that wealth is wrong. We just don’t want to make it a driving focus of in our lives. Remember,

15:16 Better a little with the fear of YHWH than great wealth with turmoil.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout today. Until next time, Shalom
