Follow the Blesser, not the Blessing – Luke 5:11

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Luke 5:11
So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

I absolutely love this. Yet sometimes I believe a message is overlooked here. Let’s think about this for a minute. When looking at the whole context, we see Peter and his friends were cleaning their nets. This means they just got done fishing. Yet, Yeshua told them to put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch. Peter said they had worked hard all night and didn’t catch a thing. But they did so anyway because Yeshua told them to.

When they did, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they called their friends in the other boat to come and help them. They filled both boats so full that they began to sink. They were all amazed.

This is when we read they left everything and followed Yeshua. Now, think of how much money that catch represented for them. That was a lot of fish. But they left it all, even their boats. So who do you follow? The blessing or the blesser?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
