Matthew 10:17, 18 – On Guard (August 3)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Wednesday. August 3rd. The 4th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today are Matthew 10:17, 18.

Matthew 10:17
Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues. 18 On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.

For some reason, people who live in countries that currently have religious freedom think these passages only apply to the tribulation. Yet, many countries today have believers imprisoned, tortured and even killed for their faith. It’s hard for some to imagine that, but it’s true.

Regardless of where we are on YHWH’s time frame, these are verses we need to take to heart. A time may come where we may be handed over. We may be called to stand as witnesses to the nations in such a manner. If the nation where you live becomes hostile to believers, what would you do? That’s a heavy question isn’t it? It’s a question that no one wants to think about.

Yet, that question can only be avoided for so long. We are told to be on our guard against the men that would do this to us. So, are you standing guard?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
