Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Friday. March 4th. The 6th day of the Hebraic week.
Our verse today is Revelation 1:3.
Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
You know, it’s not every day that I encourage people to read the book of Revelation. In fact, I normally encourage people to stick to the parts of scripture that teach us how to walk right before YHWH and not so much on the elements that deal with prophecy. Especially to those who are new to the faith.
However, I was glancing over some things today and this verse just stood out to me like never before. We all want to be blessed right? Of course we do! We all want to walk in the blessings of YHWH.
Now, here’s the thing. This verse does’t say “Blessed are those who read and understand these words.” It doesn’t say “Blessed are those who read and can explain these words.” Neither does it say “Blessed are those who read these words and can fathom all the mysteries that surround these words.”
Nope. Nothing like that at all. The verse says there are two reasons for being blessed here. The first is reading the words and the second is taking these words to heart. That’s it. You don’t have to understand them. You don’t have to comprehend how they all fit together with the prophets of old of the Old Testament to be blessed by them.
Now, there is nothing wrong with seeking that understanding and comprehension, but it’s not needed for the blessing. You see, prophecy is not given so much for the reason of being able to see the future. It is given just as much for the reason of being able to identify what is happening when it starts so we won’t be deceived.
So don’t be scared to read Revelation because it seems so deep. That’s OK. I’ve yet to meet anyone who truly understands it all. Just remember, the blessings come for those who read it and take it to heart. He’ll give you the understanding in due time. It might even be when it actually takes place. But at least then you’ll know, where many others who avoided the book will have no idea.
