He Told You – 1 Kings 13:18

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Kings 13:18
The old prophet answered, “I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the word of YHWH: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.'” (But he was lying to him.)

But he was lying to him. If you have not read this story, I encourage to make some time before the day is done and get the full context of what is going on here. In brief, a young prophet was told what to do by YHWH. As he was concluding his task in obeying, an older prophet came to him and said he had a message that he was to bring the younger prophet back to his place. This is where we read he was lying. Yet, the young prophet listened to the older one and did what he said.

The conclusion of the story has the younger prophet being killed by a lion, but not eaten. The moral of the story is that we are to do what YHWH tells us and not what others say.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
