Needless Sacrifice – 1 Corinthians 13:3

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Corinthians 13:3
If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Think about this verse for a second. Let it sink in for a moment. Even if we give all we own to the poor or if we surrender our body to flames, those actions are meaningless if you don’t have love. So the question is, why do you do what you do? If you are doing good deeds only for selfish reasons, you will gain no eternal rewards.

Examine closely why you do what you do. Do you have ANY selfish motive whatsoever in your desires? Don’t answer too quickly. Rather, think it through. If there’s anyone who knows our motive better than we do, It’s YHWH. We can’t hide anything from him. So don’t even try.

Again, our verse says “If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.” You may be doing things for the kingdom, but is it being done in love?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
